BMW E36 Bolt Torque Spec Guide

Drivetrain:

• Motor Mount Bushings - For Polyurethane, torque to 12-15ft/lbs, while Aluminum should be torqued to 20-25 ft/lbs. OEM Rubber should be torqued to 30ft/lbs.
• Transmission Mount Bushings - For Polyurethane, Delrin, and Aluminum - 9-12ft/lbs. + Blue Threadlocker. For OEM Rubber Mounts - 16ft/lbs.
• Transmission Brace - 31 ft/lbs.
• Driveshaft Flex Disc (Guibo) - This changes depending on bolt size/grade as follows:
• M10 8.8 - 35ftlb
• M10 10.9 - 47ftlb
• M12 8.8 - 60ftlb
• M12 10.9 - 74ftlb
• Center Support Bearing (CSB) - Pre-load first then torque to 17.4-20.3 ft/lbs.
• Rear CV Axle Bolts - This changes depending on bolt size/grade as follows:
• M8 - 47 ft/lbs.
• M10 - 74 ft/lbs.
• Driveshaft to Final Drive Flange Bolts - This changes depending on bolt size/grade as follows:
• With CV Joint (M8): 23 ft-lb
• With U-Joint (M10 ribbed nut): 59 ft-lb
• With U-Joint (M10 compressed nut): 44 ft-lb
• Differential to Subframe - 57ft/lbs. 
• Front Differential Bushings - 70 ft/lbs.
• Rear / Differential Cover Bushings - 57 ft/lbs.

Suspension:

• Front Control Arms - 31-35 ft/lbs.
• Front Sway Bar Links - M8 Nut 17 ft/lbs. --- M10 Nut 31 ft/lbs.
• Rear Upper Control Arm to Differential Carrier - 57 ft/lbs.
• Rear Upper Control Arm to Trailing Arm - 81 ft/lbs.
• Rear Trailing Arm to Front Bracket - 81 ft/lbs.
• Rear Trailing Arm to Bracket to Body - 57 ft/lbs.
• Rear Trailing Arm to Upper or Lower Control Arms - 81 ft/lbs.
• Rear Subframe Mounts to Body - 33 ft/lbs.
• Subframe to Rear Mounts - 57 ft/lbs.
• Front Strut Tower Brace / Nuts - 18.4 ft/lbs.
• Rear Strut Tower Brace / Nuts - 18.4 ft/lbs.
• Tie Rods:
• Outer Tie Rods to Steering Arm - 33 ft/lbs.
• Outer Tie Rod End Locknut - 26 ft/lbs.
• Inner Tie Rod to Steering Gear - 52 ft/lbs.

Wheel / Hub / Brakes

• Lug Nuts / Bolts - OEM Torque Spec
• Wheel Studs - 27 to 32 lb-ft. (Studs to Wheel Hub)
• Brake Caliper to Steering Arm - 81 ft/lbs.
• Brake Rotor to Drive Flange - 12 ft/lbs.

Interior

• Floor Mounts / Seat Bolts - 41 ft/lbs.

Misc

• Front Subframe X-Brace - 31 ft/lbs.
