After years as our development platform, our 2002 BMW E46 M3 is complete. If you follow us on Instagram, you've seen this car — it's the one under the lift in our product photos, the chassis we test-fit prototypes on, and the reason several of our E46 kits exist in their current form.
What this car is
Carbon Black Metallic over black leather, ~153k miles, S54, true 6-speed manual. Lifelong Southern California car, rust-free, passed CA smog October 2025, registered through May 2027. California salvage title — full story below.
The build — everything is done
All work performed in-house at Garagistic, at Lang Racing Development, or at JMP Autowerkz. Receipts in a folder, and the major work shows on the CARFAX.
Engine & drivetrain: Vanos done. Rod bearings done (Lang, Jan 2020). Born SMG, converted to a true 6-speed manual by Lang Racing in January 2020 — done 100% to factory spec, cruise control and clutch switch fully functional. New clutch and flywheel. Clutch master and slave replaced (JMP, Nov 2024). Full differential rebuild (2020). Complete cooling system refresh: radiator, water pump, thermostat, hoses, belts, tensioners. Magnaflow cat-back. CARB-legal intake fed by our E46 Race Air Duct, and our E46 M3 Billet Diff Brace. AC blows cold, heated seats work.
Chassis: The rear subframe mounting points are reinforced with our E46 Rear Chassis Reinforcement Kit, welded in — the known E46 M3 failure point, permanently solved before it could ever crack. This car is part of the reason our complete E46 chassis reinforcement kits exist. A reinforced front subframe in the car, uninstalled.
Suspension: Feal 441 coilovers with adjustable camber arms. Every bushing in the car replaced — our E46 M3 poly front control arm bushings, poly RTABs with limiters, and our LTW rear strut bar. Plus prototype adjustable engine bushings that aren't released yet.
Shifting: Our PRO self-centering chassis-mounted short shifter, a full rebuild with the E46 M3 oval shifter bushing kit and DSSR, our billet clutch pedal and clutch stop, a prototype DTM-style knob, and a rare AC Schnitzer gas pedal.
Exterior & interior: Our CSL-style front bumper with carbon splitters, VIS carbon hood and carbon trunk (clear coat fading on both), carbon rear bumper trim, LED tails, staggered bronze 18" Kansei KNP wheels (18x9.5 et22 / 18x10.5 et12) on Falken tires. Prototype carbon seat backs on the front seats, carbon interior trim, integrated wireless phone charger.
About the title
California salvage title, issued June 2020. The brand is from a rear-end accident before my ownership; the car was repaired by Kings Auto Body, and I bought it after. It has since been through our shop more times than any customer car. It drives straight and true, and a pre-purchase inspection anywhere you like is welcome. VIN: WBSBL93462JR17565 — run it yourself.
