This is our complete E36 shifter bushing rebuild kit. Pairs great with our Supreme Shifter found here.

This kit replaces all of the maintenance items in the factor shifter assembly needed to make it feel fresh again. Our Garagistic Delrin or Aluminum front carrier bushings replace the original rubber bushing (which not only had lots of "give" but is usually neglected and degrades over time). The rear poly bushing will replace the very soft OEM which is a culprit for a mushy shifter feel. When replaced together, these bushings eliminate any side-to-side movement of the aluminum shift carrier. These shifter bushings fit at the front and rear of the aluminum carrier and will not increase vibration or harshness while still improving shifter feel. For best results, we recommend replacing the factory selector joint found on the end of the transmission (25117580281) and upgrading the selector rod to a DSSR.

Product Overview

If you're into overkill, you will love our aluminum round shifter carrier bushings. They are basically just like our Garagistic Delrin carrier units except they will NEVER go bad. They replace the original rubber bushing (which not only had lots of "give" but is usually neglected and degrades over time). These eliminate any side-to-side movement of the aluminum shifter carrier.

The front of the carrier does not see a lot of rotational movement so there is no risk in having these seize or anything like that. These are simply the overkill version of our Delrin series. Because the shifter bushings fit at the front of the aluminum carrier NO additional vibration or harshness will be felt. Replaces part number: 25 11 7 519 669 (25117519669).

Step #1

Jack up your car and safely put it on jack stands.


Step #2

Remove the notorious B**** clip. This clip is notorious because it can be very difficult to reach with common tools. To remove this clip, you will want to have your transmission supported by the jack in towards the rear of the transmission. Loosen the transmission support brace and carefully lower the jack to lower the transmission a bit in order to gain more space between the transmission and transmission tunnel. From there, you can reach a flat head screw driver to unclip the B**** clip.

An easier way to remove the clip would be to use an 8in radiator hook/pick in order to reach around the transmission from above to unclip the B**** clip.

Step #3

Unclip your selector rod from your shifter rod. Refer to 8:22 in the video above.

Step #4

Remove the 13mm nut at the rear of the shifter carrier and remove the shifter carrier from the car. Refer to 8:22 in the video above.

Step #5

With the shifter carrier removed from the car, you can now press our the old front shifter carrier bushing. The OEM bushing consists of a rubber bushing with a metal sleeve.


Step #6

Now you may press the Garagistic Front Carrier Bushing in. If you find it hard to fit, make sure the hole in the front of the shifter carrier is clear of any burs or debris. If you are still having trouble pressing the bushing in, you can lightly sand the shifter carrier until the bushing can be pressed in.

Step #7 

Installation is the reverse of removal!

Those requirements are currently that an order is over $450 and under the a "Dimensional package weight" of 30lbs. What this means is that roll bars, sway bars, and items we deem oversized do not ship for free. If your order is over this 30lbs rule it will not qualify for free shipping. Free shipping methods are at our discretion and CANNOT BE CHANGED. Most items will either be first class or priority USPS. Free shipping is not valid internationally and this list (but not limited to): Alaska, American Samoa, Micronesia, Guam, Hawaii, Marshall Islands, Northern, Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands. Customers will not be able to pick shipping methods (or overnight) if free shipping is selected. Qualifying order total is based on product subtotal—taxes and non-standard shipping charges are not included as a qualifying cost. You are responsible for non-standard shipping charges such as special handling surcharges and oversize fees (where indicated), Truck Freight fees, expedited shipping, hazardous materials charges, etc. Offer is subject to adjustment due to returns, cancellations, and exchanges. We have the right at anytime to revoke free shipping.

International Buyers:

Please be aware that we offer two shipping methods overseas. First class and priority flat rate envelope. Although first class is much cheaper, USPS seems to lag on delivery and there is no way to track the package once it has been dropped off.

There is a 20% restocking fee for all returns. For custom parts (made to order parts like our engine mounting kits) there is a 35% restocking fee. We do not accept returned customized items such as driveshafts and wiring harnesses.

The flat rate envelope is more money but you will get your gears much much quicker and the tracking number shows the package route! (the default shipping method on this site is this option).

If you want the cheaper route, you must email us telling us this and we will send you a Paypal invoice. We are not liable if you do not get your package with this option as we have no way to track it once it's at the post office.
